Campbell County, South Dakota traffic stop turns up drugs, cash in vehicleAtraffic stop this week in Campbell County, South Dakota resulted in a drug bust netting 12 pounds of marijuana, other controlled substances, drug paraphernalia and cash, said the Campbell County, South Dakota Sheriff's Office.
Around 1:45 p.m. Tuesday a 37-year-old Colorado man was traveling south on U.S. Highway 83 in a rental vehicle when he was stopped by sheriff's personnel for speeding. A search of the vehicle turned up the marijuana, with a street value of $12,000, a variety of prescription drugs, $4,700 cash and drug paraphernalia, said South Dakota Sheriff John Bechtold.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol and Division of Criminal Investigation assisted at the scene.
The man, who's name has not been released, is being held in the Walworth County, South Dakota Jail on a $20,100 cash bond, said Bechtold. Of that bond, $100 is due to a warrant out of Custer County, said the Walworth County, South Dakota Sheriff's Office.
The man has not yet been charged, but will likely appear in court next week, said Campbell County, South Dakota State's Attorney Mark Kroontje.
